Ohrid – is located on the shores of the Ohrid Lake, famous tourist hot spot in Macedonia, the city has 55,000 inhabitants. In ohrid there are numerous churches, monasteries, it is believed that with its long history that lasts for over 7000 years it must one of the oldest cities in the region. Its title as tourist destination of Macedonia can thank to Lake Ohrid which is located in valley between high mountins up to 2,000 meters. The water is warm, color is blue like in the sea. Ohrid is located approximately 170 away from Skopje, bus ride lasts for 3 hours.

Traffic in Ohrid can somteimes get intensed but most of the times is not even during the summer months. Alternate method of transportation is taxi. Taxi rides are very cheap.

Skopje is the capital and the largest city of Macedonia with over 600,000 inhabitants. The city has long history and it was mentioned first 4000 BC. Skopje is located 440 kilometer away from Belgrade, 250 km from Sofia, 230 km from Thessalonica, 815 km from Zagreb, 450 km from Sarajevo.

The Republic of Macedonia is a southeastern European country, north of Greece and west of Bulgaria. Capital city of Macedonia is Skopje. This country was part of former Yugoslavia but has in 1991 declared independence. Most of the residents are of Eastern Orthodox Christian and Muslim faith, while some are Roman Catholic or Protestant.
