General information
Osijek is so called capital of Slavonija, that is a continental part of Croatia, famous for fertile ground for agriculture and especially for its wast wheat fields. Osijek is 800 years old city, the important location to mention is the city part called Tvrdja built in 18 century, city has many green surfaces organized in altogether 17 city parks. With its 114,000 inhabitants is fourth biggest Croatian city. It is situated on the main stream that connects Budapest with Adriatic sea, and is one the strong industrial regions in Croatia.
Location
The city is located in the east Slavonija, 250 kilometers away from Zagreb and same from Belgrade in Serbia, 240 from Budapest and 400 from Vienna, all cities can be reached by highway.
Airports
Osijek airport is situated 20 kilometers from the city centre. All of the major car rental agencies are situated at the airport.
Traffic
Traffic runs smoothly all year round since this is not one of the Croatian touristic hot-spots but anyway alternative methods of transportation can be used such as taxi, bus or tram.
